People are paying more attention to their personal image. Skincare is no longer only for women. Men's grooming is now become an important part in cosmetics. We all know that sunscreen is a basic and must for us to protect our skin from sunlight. But we may feel confused when choosing the right one for ourselves, especially when salesperson is giving a kind introduction to every sunscreen product and talking about "UVA" or "UVB". So, what is UVA/UVB?
The most common reason of skin cancer is the exposure to the ultraviolet(UV) radiation. UV radiation is present in sunlight constituting about 10% of the total light output of the Sun.(https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ultraviolet) Based on whether it can pass through glass or not, UV radiation can be divided into two types, Ultraviolet A (UVA) & Ultraviolet B (UVB).

Tips for choosing the RIGHT sunscreen?

It is important to protect your skin from both UVA and UVB radiation. There are two types of sunscreen, physical sunscreens or chemical sunscreens. Both of them can help to block sunlight, but in different ways. Physical sunscreen will reflect the sunlight, while chemical sunscreen will absorb the UV light. Chemical sunscreen won't damage our skin when absorbing the UV light, but we still recommend physical sunscreen to children and pregnant women.Both of them have their own advantages, so many products are not only block sunlight in one way. Physical & Chemical combination sunscreen are common in use in nowadays.

Another word that you should know about about sunscreen is SPF(sun protection factor). It measures the fraction of sunburn-producing UV rays that reach the skin, so it's used to rate and label sunscreens. For example, "SPF 15" means that 1/15 of the burning radiation reaches the skin through the recommended thickness of sunscreen. But does that mean, the higher the number is, the better the sunscreen is? The fact is, the sunscreen you choose should at least 15. It's better to choose the most suitable SPF in consideration of your own situation.

 There are other important factors that you need to consider when choosing sunscreen. For example, if it's waterproof? Does it smell good? If you have oily skin or are prone to acne, you need to be careful and choose water-based sunscreen, it could be spray or lotion instead of cream.
